Lesson Theme: One-Sided Sid and Un-Wonderer (Lesson 3)

Information Regarding This Week’s Lesson: We will continue to read from the book, Superflex Takes on One-Sided Sid, Un-Wonderer, and the Team of Unthinkables by Michelle Garcia Winner and Stephanie Madrigal. We will be reading chapter 5 and will learn about “People Files.”

Social Wonders help us to think about others and they give us information about others. Our memory can help us a lot when it comes to social interactions with others. Students need strategies to help them use their social memories. One strategy is a “People File” which is when we store information in our brain that we learn about others. A People File is like having a filing cabinet in your brain.

When we see someone we’ve met before, our brain can locate and open that person’s People File to help us remember details about that person. Those details help us to initiate and carry on conversations with others. Using this social memory lets others know we are thinking about them. People will have good thoughts about us when we show we are interested in them.
